This word is actually a combination: the command 'cuenta' (tell) + the word 'nos' (us). In Spanish, when you give a command, you stick the 'who' (the person receiving the action) right onto the end of the verb.

A 3-in-1 Word

When we add 'nos' to the end of 'cuenta', the word gets longer. To make sure we still emphasize the 'cuen' part like we're supposed to, we have to add a written accent mark over the 'e'.
