The Wrong Moment

Mia is in the kitchen. She has the gold ring. She puts the ring on the table. She walks away.

Rosa comes in. She comes in very fast. Mia sees her. Mia grabs the ring. She puts it in her pocket.

Her hand is wet and cold. Mia sees Rosa's coat. The coat is on the chair. Mia puts the ring in the coat pocket. She walks away fast.

At dinner, Mia and Rosa sit at the table. They eat. Rosa puts her hand in her coat. Rosa stops. Rosa takes out the ring. Her eyes go wide. Her face is pale. She is not happy. She is very surprised.

Rosa looks at Mia. She is quiet for a long time. 'Did you put this here?' she asks. Mia cannot speak. She looks at the table. The ring is between them. It is small and gold. The room is silent. Mia is afraid.
