She Never Deleted Anything

Ada's farm. Wales. A cold Tuesday in November. Ada died three weeks ago. Her two grandchildren, Maya and Finn, are here to sort through her things. The farm is very remote. There is one bar of signal.

They are in the same small house. They do not go to each other. They stay in different rooms.

An hour passes. Maya works in the bedroom. Finn fills two boxes in the living room. Then he stops. He needs air. He goes outside.

Finn walks to the old barn at the side of the farm. The door is open. He goes in.

Finn walks to the workbench. He sees something on it. An old phone. The screen is cracked. He picks it up. It is unlocked. It still has charge.

Finn takes a screenshot of the most recent message thread on the old phone. He forwards one message to Maya.
