Not For Me

Dorothy lives alone in Flat 6. She is 74 years old. Every morning is quiet. Every morning is the same. But on Monday, she sees something on the floor. It is a small white card. She picks it up. It says: 'Hello, neighbour! My name is Priya. I am new in Flat 5. I hope we can be friends.' Dorothy looks at the card. Then she looks at the door. Flat 5 is across the hall. Flat 7 is next door. This card is not for her. She puts it on the table. She does not throw it away. One day passes. Then two. Then three. On Thursday, Dorothy writes six words: 'Thank you. It is nice to meet you.' She walks to Flat 5 and pushes the note under the door. That evening, a new note comes back.
