Coverage and dictionary sources

Active present/future, past, commands and conditional forms, based on the OpenRussian verb dataset (CC BY-SA 4.0). Compound future and conditional forms are assembled from these recorded forms. Selected defective and impersonal verbs have reviewed restrictions. Participles, gerunds and passive constructions are outside these tables.

“Not shown” covers missing or unsuitable learner forms; it does not prove that a form can never occur. Dictionary variants may differ in style. Device audio requires a Russian voice and may not follow every written stress choice. Practice accepts omitted stress and е for ё, then shows the dictionary spelling.

A little understanding goes a long way

Make sense of what you’re practicing

01

Perfective is not a present tense

Читать is imperfective: я читаю describes reading now or generally, and я буду читать describes future reading. Прочитать is perfective: я прочитаю presents reading as a completed future event. It has no present tense. This distinction controls which tables appear.

02

Past tense follows gender and number

Russian past forms do not change for I, you or he in the same way as present forms. Instead, they agree in gender and number: я читал, я читала, оно читало, мы читали. Choose the form matching the subject.

03

Recognize a form from your reading

Enter шёл to find идти, or пишу to find писать. Some spellings belong to several verbs or meanings; select the intended entry. Stress marks help distinguish homographs, while е can stand in for ё during lookup.

Build recall from the table
