The Envelope Sealed Inside the Cornerstone of the Old School

It is 1923. Marta is ten years old. Her town is building a new school. The workers have a big stone. It is the cornerstone. The teacher, Mr. Hoffmann, has an idea. 'Let's put a message inside the stone for the future,' he says. The children write their names. Marta writes: 'We are here. We are small. But we are here.' Eighty years pass. It is 2003. Workers are taking down the old school. They find the stone. A woman named Dr. Fischer opens it. She finds the old envelope. She reads Marta’s words: 'We are here.' Dr. Fischer smiles. She puts the papers in a museum. She writes a note: 'We found you.'
