01

What this German level test measures

The written section contains seven original questions at each of four learning bands, A1 through B2. Grammar, vocabulary and reading contribute to the suggested starting point. Listening uses four existing story recordings and is reported separately. The test does not assess spoken interaction, pronunciation or writing.

02

How to interpret your result

The first written band below 75% correct becomes the suggested study starting point. This conservative rule avoids treating a few difficult correct guesses as proof of an advanced level. The small item bank is not psychometrically calibrated: use the result to choose practice, then adjust based on whether the recommended stories feel comfortable.

03

A1, A2, B1 and B2 in practical terms

A1 practice centers on familiar people, places and everyday expressions. A2 adds routine situations and short connected texts. B1 practice develops understanding of the main points, causes and sequences in familiar subjects. B2 includes more complex arguments, implicit meaning and grammatical relationships. A comprehensive CEFR evaluation also requires productive skills.

04

What should I do after the test?

Review missed explanations before retaking the same questions. Read a story near your suggested band, listen once without the transcript and then read along. If nearly every sentence needs a translation, choose an easier story. For course admission or official proof of proficiency, use the assessment specified by the institution.
