Spanish Word Order Patterns

📝

Basic Structure (SVO)

Like English, Spanish follows Subject-Verb-Object: "Yo como manzanas" (I eat apples). This is the most common pattern.

🎨

Adjective Placement

Most adjectives follow the noun: "casa blanca" (white house). Some common adjectives like "bueno" and "grande" can precede.

Questions

Questions can keep the same word order as statements, using only intonation: "¿Hablas español?" (Do you speak Spanish?)

🔄

Flexibility

Spanish word order is flexible for emphasis. "El libro leo" puts emphasis on "the book" rather than the reading action.
