The Clock That Stopped at the Same Time Every Tuesday

The library is quiet. Mara sits at a table. She has a book. She is happy. She looks at the old clock on the wall. It is 3:15. But the clock stops. The clock does not move for three minutes. Then, it moves again. Mara is confused. The next Tuesday, the clock stops again at 3:15.

Mara goes to the librarian, Mr. Osei. 'The clock stops every Tuesday at 3:15,' Mara says. 'Why?' Mr. Osei walks to the clock. He opens a small door on the back. Inside is a tiny photo of a woman. 'This is my wife,' he says. 'She died on a Tuesday at 3:15. She loved this library.' Mr. Osei looks at the photo. 'Every Tuesday, I stop the clock for a few minutes. I want to remember her.' Mara looks at the photo. The woman is sitting at Mara's table. Mara smiles. 'I will come every Tuesday,' she says. The clock ticks again.
