A Message from the Past

Leo takes the diary to Dr. Evans, the head botanist at Kew. He shows her the book and the small, dry flower.

Dr. Evans looks at the flower. "This is very rare!" she says. "And this code is very interesting."

They go to a library with old maps and books. They look at the diary together. Dr. Evans puts the flower on the page with the code. "Look!" she says. "The flower is the key for the code."

They read the secret message. The message says where Leo’s great-grandfather hid important seeds during the war. These seeds can make a powerful medicine. The message shows a place on an old map of Kew Gardens.

Leo understands everything now. His great-grandfather protected something very important. Leo feels very proud.
