One Word, Two Genders

This word stays exactly the same whether you are talking about a man or a woman. Just change the 'the' in front: 'el oyente' (male) or 'la oyente' (female).

Ending in -ente

Words ending in '-ente' usually describe a person doing an action. Here, it comes from 'oír' (to hear), so an 'oyente' is 'one who hears.'

Don't use 'oyenta'

Mistake:La oyenta está feliz.

Correction: La oyente está feliz. Even for women, the word ends in -e.
