RR Sound
Practice the rolled RR sound
💡 Practice Tips
The rolled RR (vibrante múltiple) is produced by allowing the tongue tip to vibrate rapidly against the alveolar ridge. The most common mistake is tensing the tongue — a tense tongue cannot vibrate. Instead, relax your tongue completely and let the airflow do the work. A helpful starting exercise: say ''t-t-t-t-t'' very rapidly, then try ''d-d-d-d-d.'' Now try ''tt-rr'' — many people find the roll starts to happen naturally from this position. The RR appears at the start of words (''rosa''), after N and L (''Enrique''), and as the double letter RR between vowels (''perro''). These trabalenguas force you to produce the roll repeatedly, which builds the coordination your tongue needs.
