Make sense of what you’re practicing
What does knowing a character mean?
Recognizing a written character, pronouncing it, understanding a word containing it, and writing it from memory are different skills. This quiz checks one meaning from a real story sense. A correct answer does not imply knowledge of every reading or compound.
A knowledge check, not a vocabulary-size estimate
The quiz samples up to twenty items from a curated story-derived bank. Its percentage reports only these questions. It does not extrapolate to thousands of words or assign an HSK level. The separate written level test checks a broader mix of grammar and reading.
Why the answer includes a story
Meanings come from the same reusable sense cache used when you tap a word in Inklingo stories. After answering, you can see the original sentence, pronunciation and source story, then open the vocabulary hub to compare other cached meanings.
Use mistakes as your next study list
Review missed items, repeat their source sentences and retry them in a shorter session. Switch between Simplified and Traditional when you want to practise another script. Repeating the same small bank is useful practice but cannot measure your entire vocabulary.
