How to remember German noun gender
Recall a short phrase, not just a colored label: der alte Tisch, die neue Wohnung, das kleine Kind. Say the noun with its article and plural when you review it. A correct guess is a start; an example helps connect the gender to a phrase you can use.
Patterns worth practicing
Feminine suffixes such as -ung, -heit and -keit and neuter diminutives such as -chen offer useful anchors. Some nouns still need individual attention. Das Mädchen is grammatically neuter, although it refers to a girl; grammatical gender and a person’s gender are different concepts.

Some spellings represent several nouns. Der Leiter is a leader, while die Leiter is a ladder. The quiz always gives a meaning so the answer is specific. You are choosing the nominative singular article, not an article in a dative or genitive phrase.
