Russian numbers to words & practice

Convert numbers to Russian words, including decimals, rubles and kopecks. Hear the result, choose grammatical gender and practice number spelling for free.

  1. Enter a whole number, decimal or ruble amount.

  2. Read or hear the Russian form and compare examples.

  3. Practice number spelling and retry missed answers.

Write a number in Russian

Nominative cardinal forms. Whole-number part up to 999 999 999 999; decimals up to three places, rubles up to two. A comma or point is a decimal separator; group thousands with spaces.

две тысячи двадцать шесть

Тысяча is feminine, so 2 000 is две тысячи regardless of the gender selector. Million and billion are masculine. Decimal fractions use feminine forms; rubles are masculine and kopecks feminine. Device audio requires an installed Russian voice.

Build number recall

Write the words without looking at the converter. Start with 0–20, then practice teens versus tens or larger numbers. This checks spelling; it does not assess pronunciation.

Practice these forms

Write up to eight randomly selected numbers in Russian. Stress marks are optional. Revealing a spelling puts it in your review list and does not count as correct recall.

One, two, five: choose the right ending

Один рубль · два рубля · пять рублей · одиннадцать рублей · двадцать один рубль.

For these counting forms, endings 11–14 take the plural form. Otherwise, a final 1 takes the singular, 2–4 take the genitive singular, and 0 or 5–9 take the genitive plural. Other sentence cases and animate objects can change the pattern.

These are cardinal numbers (“how many”), not ordinal dates (“the twenty-first”). For Russian numeral grammar, see Gramota’s numeral reference.

A little understanding goes a long way

Make sense of what you’re practicing

01

Russian numbers use separate words

Twenty-one is двадцать один; one hundred and twenty-one is сто двадцать один. Russian does not insert an equivalent of English “and” between hundreds and tens. Learn the basic blocks, then combine them in order.

02

Pay attention to gender

One book is одна книга, one window is одно окно, and one table is один стол. Two books is две книги, while two windows is два окна. The converter’s gender setting changes the final one or two; thousands always keep their own feminine agreement.

03

Read decimals without losing precision

The decimal reader preserves the number of written places: 0,5 is ноль целых пять десятых, while 0,50 uses fifty hundredths. Ruble mode interprets two fractional places as kopecks: 21,02 is двадцать один рубль две копейки. It does not round extra places.

04

Practice the similar-sounding numbers

Learners often confuse teens and tens, such as пятнадцать and пятьдесят. Select that practice group, write each number, then use the reference audio to compare them. Russian device voices vary; use story narration for further listening practice.
